A Message from the Kumite Committee

Osu everyone,

The Seiyu Kumite Committee would like to welcome you to the Spring Challenge 2023 Kumite tournament where students of Seiyu Karate can join together in an afternoon of one-match fights guaranteed to be full of excitement.

The event is set to take place on Saturday, May 27 from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm at the New Westminster dojo and is open to all active Seiyu students over 14 years of age.

The goal of this tournament is to provide an evenly matched experience with another opponent from Seiyu under the guidance of our well-trained team of corner judges and centre referees. There will be both entry and intermediate divisions with modified rules to accommodate the different experience levels of competitors.

Fighter safety is our top priority and mandatory protective gear will be in place to ensure everyone leaves with a positive experience. Matches will be hand selected based on your skill and experience level in consultation with the Kumite committee, if you have always wanted to test your skill in a Kumite event but may have been reluctant to try, this is your opportunity. Don’t forget green belts and higher can both compete and judge so make the most of this memorable event.

The Spring Challenge is a rare opportunity to be a part of an exciting day that will boost your confidence and technique that you should not miss. We look forward to seeing you there.
