Kyokushin Karate Kids Part 2 ~ Interview with
John Kleschelsky
at Richmond East Dojo on June 24 2005

Inspired by his father's 10-man kumite, John decided to join the Richmond East Dojo right after the summer camp 2004. The hard working 11 year old boy has made tremendous progress since then. He is now able to perform katas up to Pinan 4 and won Gold Medal at the Newton Tournament and Bronze at the Canadians this year. It's amazing that he made these achievements with only ten-month training.

Q1: When and how did you join the Kyokushin Karate club at first?
John: I joined Kyokushin Karate in the summer of 2004. I saw my dad's 10-man fighting at the summer camp. I was inspired by his spirit

Q2: Why do you like Kyokushin Karate?
John: I like Kyokushin Karate because you build character through training and learn self-defense, and it is a contact style so you see what it takes to defend yourself in a real fight.

Q3: What is your favorite technique?

John: I like kicking pads. I like Mae-Geri when we train with kicking pads at class.

Q4: You competed in the Canadian Championships. How did you enjoy the event?
John: Before the event, I was determined to win but at the event I was out of shape and I got 3rd place. I will train hard for a next tournament.

Q5: What is your goal in Karate?
John: My goal is to keep training hard and get a black belt someday. Osu.

John K.

Joined VKK 2004. He fought in the Canadians this year for the first time and placed 3rd. He currently holds 9th kyu (Orange stripe).

John's techniques and stances are solid. He will be a very good karate-ka if he keeps training
at this rate.
