Japan Trip
Kyushu-Shikoku-Kyoto-Tokyo
May 2007
Since
I have started Kyokushin Karate in Hungary in 1996 I was always
seeking for opportunities to visit homeland of Kyokushin Karate,
JAPAN. Finally, more then 10 years later my wish came true and my
girlfriend and I left Vancouver on May 5th to spend a two
week vacation in Japan.
Among other things
we spent 2 days in Kyoto, the previous capital city of Japan.
I’ve already had 2 friends in the region that used to train in
the Vancouver dojo so I wanted to make sure that I can meet with
them during our trip. After couple of emails and calls we could
arrange to meet Lima and Shin in Kyoto. Moreover, we were
honored with Lima’s mother’s offer to spend two nights at their
place and enjoy the Japanese hospitality.
Although
Lima had to go to school during the day she was so kind and
organized a short sightseeing tour in her neighborhood. We
visited some shrines and temples and learnt how to clear hands
and soul according to their religion. The photo was mad in front
of shrine of wish (or something like that
J )
At night we went
out for dinner with Lima and Shin. It was nice to meet with them
again. We had a long dinner with lots of talking. They told me
that they have never met in Japan before and it is funny that a
Hungarian guy from Canada was needed for this meeting. Both Lima
and Shin say hello to everybody in the Vancouver dojo. They are
still missing times spent in Vancouver dojo both facing with new
challenges though. Shin is studying law in Osaka while Lima
wants to became an engineer. Good luck for both of you guys and
keep going on the Kyokushin way!
Our
last stop was the gigantic metropolitan, Tokyo. Although I did
not have time to attend training I was lucky to watch a half
training at the Honbu in Ikebukoro, Tokyo. It was amazing to see
and feel the Kyokushin spirit during the almost 1 hour spent
watching Kihon and Idokeiko. The entire building was pulsating
from the loud Kiai. The last 2 pictures were made there. I also
stopped by at Ichigeki Plaza in Shibuya during a late night walk
in
Tokyo.
I'm proud of being a part of this big
Kyokushin family and this short trip in Japan and the 2 years in
Vancouver dojo just gave me more strength for the future that no
matter which country you live in, you can always find the way to
keep going on the Kyokushin Way. OSU
