October 29 at Downtown Dojo
Tonight was Juno's (center in the first row) last class in Vancouver.
He joined us this April and attended almost all the classes until today.
The Japanese-Korean will be leaving for Tokyo in a few days.
Many of us were inspired by his excellence in Kumite and learned a lot
from him.
But what makes us respect him most for was his courtesy to other people.
He will go back to his old dojo in Japan and resume training shortly.
As long as we stay in Kyokushin, we are bound to see each other again.
So long and see you soon, Juno. Osu!

October 17 at Richmond East Dojo
The spirit of the students at this dojo is really high.
The tonight's class focused on Kata and fighting as the belt testing and
the tournament were approaching fast. Tomorrow, Sempai Michi is running
two fighters classes at 12pm and 7pm, taking full advantage of this
full-time facilities.
Any VKK students who want to train more are all welcome to join him.
But make sure to contact him first before showing up.

October 16 at Richmond East Dojo
Sempai Michi and Kris lead the fighters class twice a week.
Will, Tomomi, Albert, Keita and Pasha follow their lead in a grueling
workout routine.
Vancouver Cup 2008 is seven weeks away. Their morale is rising.

August 22 at Downtown Dojo
It was the last class for Esther (center in the back row) to train with us
in Vancouver.
The brown belt is moving to Calgary to attend the university from this
September.
Her dedication to Kyokushin always pushes her limits in training,
and has earned her a very successful training career.
We wish you the very best of luck in Calgary
and hope to see you in December at Vancouver Cup. Osu!

July 23 at Richmond East Dojo
We would like to introduce Ethan(5), Adam(9) and Noah(10).
The three brothers train together two times a week at the dojo.
The eldest Noah joined us about four years ago, then Adam did three years
ago.
The youngest Ethan began training last year.
Can Ethan ever get promoted to Orange Belt?
When he does, we will all have a bigger smile than he does in the picture.

July 16 at Richmond East Dojo
Fighters class keeps going on a regular basis.
The dojo is filled with the intense heat. The sweat is
literally pouring off the fighters, and is creating a small puddle on the
floor.
Summer is the best season to work on stamina as well as to harden fighting
spirit,
like forging and hammering a Japanese sword.

July 3 at Downtown Dojo
Summer has definitely arrived in Vancouver.
Our dogi gets soaking wet as the dojo temperature soars.
It is this season that gives us the toughest challenge in
following through each regular class. However, the sense of achievement
you acquire afterwards is just incredible.

April 7 at Downtown Dojo
It's been exactly a
year since we started this white belt class last spring.
The class now has twelve students, and they are all very energetic.
Several of them are getting ready to test for orange belt in May.
Good luck , guys.

March 24 in Kyoto, Japan
Email just came in from Lima (left) who trained at the downtown dojo until last year.
After moving back to Japan, the university student joined the renowned
Kyoto dojo
to continue her journey in Kyokushin. Then, she decided to compete in the
Kyoto Open on March 20,
and came to 2nd place in the women's open division. Her success is very
encouraging and will motivate us
hear in Vancouver. Congratulations, Lima. Keep training hard for the next
goal
- the black belt testing! Osu.

February
26 at Richmond East
The kids class of
this dojo is a senior-beginner mixed class.
Those higher belts are always asked to help and teach lower belts
to learn the necessity of support between Sempai and Kohai.

February
10 at Killarney Dojo
Sitting still in
Seiza is one of the hardest jobs for those little kids of the orange
belt class.
Some look around while others play with a belt.
However, Tyler's Seiza (front) looks very good
with his eyes closed
in Mokuso (meditation).

February 2 at Richmond East
Dojo
We had Mike and Dylan of the Victoria
Dojo join Michi for a special sparring session.
The class consisted of forty rounds of hard kumite, exhausting fist
push-ups and jumping squats.
The rivalry among the three fighters pushed them hard
in a positive way
and help them complete the four-hour class. We would like to thank Sempai
Hiro Hayashi
for letting us get together. This type of class certainly boosts up their
motivation and friendship, and when we have a chance, we plan to have
another one in the near future.

January
27 at Killarney Dojo
Fifteen students of the
white belt class learned how to punch today.
With a long karate journey ahead of them, learning proper punching
technique now is essential.
Close your hand firmly, aim to the centre, thrust hard and pull back
quickly!
