SUMMER CAMP REPORT
By Keegan Wong
Wow, what a rush, a month of training in three days. Still
sore, but all worth it. The training is much different than
what I am use to. The Bo Kata classes were excellent, and the
water training I will never forget. From all the Katas I have
done in the past, I have now found my new favorites. Bo Katas!
I felt like a white belt again, learning everything from
scratch. I was not just perfecting my Katas, but now learning
the first steps.
Water training was one of the best classes of camp. The river
was refreshing and fun, as long as I forgot about the freezing
water. After training in the hot sun in an open field, it
felt great to just cool down in the river.
What was really surprising was seeing Sempai Alex and Sempai
Curtis fight their twenty man kumite. Their fights were great
to watch. I was surprised they could stand after all those
beatings. The energy in the room was huge as they fought
their fights. Everybody was cheering, and gave lots of
encouragement to the Sempai’s. It was a great event and I hope
I can accomplish what they have done.
This whole camp experience was surprising. I enjoyed the
classes and meeting new and old friends in this camp. I hope
to participate in next year’s Summer Camp.
