Training with Shito-Ryu students

Shito-Ryu, as you might have heard the style before, is one of the four major traditional karate styles along with Shoto-Kan, Goju-Ryu and Wado-Ryu. We had a privilege to train at the Shitto-Ryu "Seiko-Kai" dojo directed by Shihan Kaz Hashimoto.

The event was held at the Killarney Communi center and a total of 132 students successfully passed the exam.

All American Open 2004

This worldwide event is annually hosted by IKO (International Karate Organization). Johnny Leblanc placed 6th this year. (First time ever for a Canadian fighter to place in this event.)

Summer Training Camp
July 30 - August 2, 2004

The four-day event full of informative seminars gave all participants a great opportunity to learn new techniques and make new friends. Alex Kleschelsky from our dojo successfully completed the 10-Man Kumite and received the Kyokushin Black Belt.

Karate Demonstration
August 7, 2004

Forty students took part in the community festival "Summer Sizzler 2004" by putting on an excellent karate demonstration.

Summer Knockout Party
August 21, 2004

Seventy-two students and parents has a nice relaxing time together at this special party held at the world famous Granville Island Brewing's "Tap Room".

Sarah and Joel's Wedding

On Sep 2, Sempai Joel and his fiancée, Sarah, began their new life together as a married couple. Omedeto Gozaimasu!

North American Black Belt Conference
October 6-8, 2004

The IKO Belt Grading was held in the camp with Kancho Matsui, Shihan Lowe, Shihan Isobe, Shihan Corrigal, Shihan Gilbert and Shihan Gorai in attendance. Tats Nakamura was granted 3 dan by them after the examination.

Fall 2004 Belt Promotion Test

142 students applied for the exam and did their best in performing the required techniques.
