The annual 2008 Calgary Cup was
successfully held on March 1st at the beautiful ballroom of the
Deerfoot Inn & Casino. Over 220 fighters participated in this
grand-scale event from dojos in Alberta and British Columbia. In
order to bring positive experiences to all the participants, the
event was thoroughly prepared by an able team of the Calgary
Dojo.
Tama
from Vancouver Kyokushin signed up for the Men's Heavyweights.
The green belt, who now lives in Calgary and trains with Michi
Nagase, looked confident on the event day. Tama stepped onto the
mat and faced a fighter from the local area. The Japanese showed
some improvement in stamina but lacked defense techniques. In a
halfway through the fight, he was kicked in the head and lost a
half point. In an attempt to cancel it out, Tama desperately
attacked but lost the match as time ran out. The Canadian
Championships is just around corner. He needs to work hard on
the weaknesses which were revealed in this event.
We would like to thank Sensei
Brad and his team for the great opportunity. We are very glad to
be part of it and encouraged to see Kyokushin in Calgary grow
each and every year. Osu.
