March 1 at Downtown Dojo
We had a guest instructor tonight.
Sempai Hugo (2nd from right) from Montreal
visited our dojo. He stayed in Vancouver to work as a volunteer for the
Vancouver 2010.
The two-time Vancouver Cup Lightweight Champion showed us
strong techniques and spirit, and many of us had a chance to spar with him.
It was particularly great for Keita (1st from right) because they fought
each other in 2006.
The sparring with each other today must have brought back some good memories
to them.
Sempai Hugo is leaving the city on this Wednesday. But the bonding between
West and East keeps
strengthening as we are visiting Montreal in three weeks for the upcoming
tournament.
See you soon, Sempai!

February 22
at Downtown Dojo
Tonight's class gave us the last opportunity to train with Tsuguo
(Middle row centre in the photo)
as he returns to Japan on this Thursday.
He joined us about a year ago and has trained with us since.
One of his highlights in Kyokushin is taking 1st place in the
Canadian Championships by beating the strong Bip Thind in the finals.
Many students come and go when you operate a dojo.
The downtown dojo is more so because the city accepts thousands of
international travelers and exchange students throughout a year.
It is very important for us to make their stay in Vancouver more
memorable and enjoyable if any of them join our club.
Tonight, Tsuguo said "Kyokushin gave me the most positive experience
in my stay in Canada." A statement such as this makes us realize that we are
not just teaching how to kick and punch.
Good luck, Tsuguo and hope to see you in the future at a Kyokushin dojo.
Osu!

February 13
at VKK Fighters Class
In
the past ten years, the VKK Fighter Class produced many dedicated fighters.
The tradition continues as Sempai Michi leads the class.
He has been gaining various
experiences in time management,
training methods and team motivation.
Today, 17 members sweated hard in Crossfit to be ready for
the upcoming tournaments. Good luck, guys!

February 11
at Killarney Dojo
A lot of junior students
watched the Olympic torch relay and got their face stamped with a maple
leaf.
We are ready for the Games. Go Canada Go!
